Ik plaatste op instagram een oproep of er iemand zin had in een Mani Swap en tadaah. Ik kreeg een berichtje van Caroline uit Denemarken dat ze dat wel leuk leek. Dus we hebben een datum afgesproken en zijn aan de slag gegaan.
I asked around on instagram if someone was up for a Mani Swap. It was ages sinds I did one and I really wanted to do another. Lo and behold, Caroline from Denmark send me a message and here we are. We set a date and now it’s reveal time.
Here’s the poster for the mani swap. So you can see what nail art Caroline picked to recreate and the wonderful job she did. I do love her sun more than mine. It looks so much more peaceful. She said that she saw it was Harry Potter themed and was sold right away.

It was hard to chose from all the beautiful nailarts Caroline has made, but when I saw this colourful creation I was hooked. This was right up my alley and I love the pop of neon on the top and the pattern is so good. And with all the new polishes I bought last week, I saw I had them all brand new. I used Essence Neon Pastel 76 Frozen Mint, and 73 Peach Please, and Pretty Fast – 40 seconds express drying – 06 Yellow To Go, and Catrice Neonude c08 Shrill Orange. Not sure I’d ever thought of putting those together, but I’m in love with the gradient.
Het was best wel moeilijk om te kiezen. Caroline heeft zo veel mooie nailarts gemaakt, maar toen ik deze felgekleurde nailart zag was ik verkocht. Dit is precies iets voor mij. Een mooie gradient en dan een geweldig patroon erop. Misschien teveel in mijn comfortzone, maar I love it. De lakken die ik gebruikt heb voor deze nailart kocht ik allemaal vorige week. Ik weet niet of ik er ooit aan gedacht zou hebben om ze samen in een gradient te gebruiken, maar ik vind ze samen helemaal top.
Usually I’d use all nail polish to make a nailart like this, but this time I wanted to try to use acrylic paint. And I’m not sure I like it better. Maybe the lines are crisper, but I need to get used to using acrylic paints. The paint is very streaky and yes, it’s easier to remove a part you don’t like. But it was quite a struggle to work with. Oh well, the result is good, so after a few hours of putting stripes on my nails, I was happy. But, it wasn’t as easy to use as I’d hoped.
Normaal gesproken gebruik ik nagellak om zo’n nailart te maken, maar nu wilde ik acrylverf gebruiken. Ik zie dat wel vaker dat verf in nailart gebruikt wordt, en dat wilde ik ook eens doen. Maar dat was nog niet zo makkelijk als ik dacht. Misschien zijn de lijntjes nu wel scherper dan met nagellak, maar de verf is nogal streperig. Met nagellak vlakt dat uit als je er een topcoat overheen doet, dat doet verf niet. Het is wel zo dat je makkelijk een stukje weghaalt met water als je het niet mooi vind.
