Ever so often I get the question why September? Why do a 31 day nail challenge in a month that only has 30 days? I think it’s because of Sarah of Chalkboard Nails. Back in 2011 I started doing some nailart, but it wasn’t until 2012 that I got better doing it and got more involved/influenced/inspired by the nailart community. With the rise of social media it was easier to see nailart from all over the world. Sarah was (is) definitly someone I looked up to and aspired to be like. So my first year I participated was 2012. It was more hyped on social media too. It’s also something that made me push myself to get better, to try new things. Which is why I keep doing it. Even in years I barely made any other nailart, I kept doing the challenge. It’s intense, and even if I don’t get to stick to making a nailart a day, I’m happy I participated. I love looking back. Seeing how I’ve grown each year. How I can remember making nailarts. How I love seeing new nailart trends. I love checking others and their nailart. It most definitly isn’t a competition, but seeing what other people make and how they’re inspired is really fun to see as well. So since it has become a thing for september, I just love joining in.
I don’t know who made the challenge and made the first template. The 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 templates were made by Sarah from Chalkboardnails and 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 I made.
